On the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day 2026, the campus of Siddhartha Group of Institutions in Dehradun was draped in patriotism as the institution organised a grand and inspiring flag hoisting ceremony. Chairman Durga Verma attended the event as chief guest and hoisted the national tricolour, marking the start of a morning that stayed with everyone present long after it ended.

Flag Hoisting Ceremony at Siddhartha Group of Institutions

The programme began right on time. Once the flag was hoisted, Shri. Durga Prasad Verma paused to pay tribute to the country's immortal freedom fighters and the many who fought for India's independence a quiet moment that set the tone for everything that followed.

Right after that, the teachers, students and staff gathered on campus sang the national anthem together and saluted the flag as one voice. For a few minutes, the entire campus rang with slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Vande Mataram." It wasn't a rehearsed moment it genuinely felt like everyone meant it.

Chairman Durga Verma's Address to Students

Addressing the gathering, Chairman Shri. Durga Prasad Verma spoke about what freedom really means and where it comes from. He reminded everyone that independence didn't arrive easily it came after generations of struggle, sacrifice, and hardship endured by people who never got to see the India we live in today. He said that a day like this shouldn't just be about celebration; it should also be about renewing our responsibility towards the country and the duties we owe it.

He also spoke directly to the students, saying that the institution has always tried to build not just academically strong students but ones who carry real moral values alongside a genuine sense of patriotism. Today's youth, he said, are the ones who will shape tomorrow's India and that means contributing to the nation's growth should matter just as much as doing well in studies.

Cultural Programme by Students

To mark the occasion further, students of the institution presented a cultural programme built around patriotic themes songs dedicated to the country, short skits reflecting on freedom and sacrifice, and speeches delivered with real conviction. Everyone present at the event was visibly moved by the performances.
