Moot Court Society

Moot Court Society is a student organization that focuses on developing students skills in legal drafting, researching, & oral advocacy through simulated court proceedings. The body generally responsible for administering these simulated court proceedings is the Moot Court Society. Therefore, the body vested with the powers to organise/host Intra/National Moot Competition for Siddhartha Law College, Dehradun is it's very own Moot Court Society, i.e. SLC, Moot Court Society.

This society is presided by Faculty Convenors who are assisted by Convenor and Co-Convenor (Student body). Who then on their discretion or recommendation of faculty members form different committees like research, editorial, media and marketing, tech, etc.

The Moot Court Society is the law scholar's committee entrusted with the responsibility of administering and facilitating all moot court-related matters at Siddhartha Law College and upholding the high standards of excellence the law school has set for itself in the field of mooting. It aims to provide a platform for students of the campus to inculcate and enhance their advocacy skills. Moot Court Society acts as a mentor to the students, frequently organising training programs and workshops conducted by experts. The society also conducts internal competitions to inculcate a general culture of mooting in the college.

It involves identifying legal issues out of a complex factual scenario, doing exhaustive research on those issues to advance arguments with authorities, followed by drafting extensive written submissions, and finally, the gruelling orals before a bench of eminent judges. In a nutshell, it is everything a lawyer is expected to do once he starts practicing law.
