At Siddhartha Law College every student gets a chance to participate in simulated court proceedings. These mock trials usually involve drafting memorials or memoranda and participating in oral arguments.

Structure of Moot Court Competitions

1. Preparation :

  • Case Problem : Students receive a fictional case problem, which typically involves complex legal issues.
  • Research : Participants must conduct extensive legal research to support their arguments.
  • Brief Writing : Teams prepare written submissions, often called briefs or memorials, that outline their legal arguments.

2. Oral Argument :

  • Preliminary Rounds : Teams argue their case before a panel of judges, who can be professors, practitioners, or actual judges.
  • Feedback : Participants receive feedback on their performance, which helps them improve.
  • Knockout Rounds : Teams that advance participate in elimination rounds until a winner is determined.
